Respite care at The Richardson, West Perth.

Residential respite care with Oryx gives carers the opportunity to take a well-earned break, recharge, and take care of your own wellbeing while we look after your loved one.

‘Respite’ or ‘respite care’ is designed to give both carers and the person they care for a break for a short period of time. As a carer, it’s important to allow yourself time to relax, take a holiday and look after yourself so you can give your loved one the best care possible.

Residential respite is best suited for people who need ongoing, continuous support and care for daily tasks. Respite stays can be arranged at short notice, for as little as just two weeks at a time within a residential aged care home.

At The Richardson, respite residents enjoy a beautiful private bedroom and ensuite, and receive the same care, support and access to lifestyle amenities as our permanent residents. This includes chef cooked meals, cleaning and laundry, social activities, and 24/7 care from our nursing team that is tailored to suit individual needs and care requirements.

Residential respite at The Richardson also includes access to our Vitality Plus on-site rehabilitation program. Our specialised aged care physiotherapy and occupational therapy services for rehabilitation – which can assist with recovery from falls, illness or  post-surgery when transitioning from hospital. In many cases, respite care allows you to boost your recovery with specialised nursing support, a nutritionally balanced diet, and access to expert services.

During a respite stay, residents’ not only benefit from the convenience of the allied health and wellness facilities that are located onsite at both The Richardson and The Queenslea, they also benefit from the social aspects of meeting new people and enjoying organised daily activities.

To receive partly Government funded respite care, an individual must be assessed and approved by the local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) for residential high or low care respite. Residents without an ACAT approval may still be able to gain privately funded respite, so if you care for someone that is not ACAT assessed please speak to our team about how we can assist in arranging care for your loved one.
