What is the wellness package?
The wellness package is an additional provided by Oryx to our residents. We provide equipment in our gymnasiums for residents receiving one-on-one and group therapy. Our wellness packages have shown to preserve and improve participants’ levels of physical activity and mobility by addressing their specific impairments. It also facilitates unlimited access to our gyms during supervised hours and is a great way to encourage social interaction and engagement.
How does it work?
Every resident on a wellness package will first receive a comprehensive assessment. The outcomes of the assessment are communicated to the clinical manager and the family. Based on the outcomes, the resident will then receive one of three wellness packages:
- Falls and Balance
This package is tailored to improve balance and function to reduce the risk of falls. Targets: Balance, Social interaction, Cognitive function, Physical function. - Strength and Mobility
This package is tailored for residents with orthopaedic conditions (eg. Rotator cuff, post surgery). Targets: Reduction in pain, Improved range, Increased strength, Physical function. - Functionality
This package is specifically tailored for residents with neurological conditions who usually require two practitioners to assist for mobility or transfers (eg. Parkinson’s Disease, MS, post stroke). Targets: Maximising function, Increasing strength, Capacity building.
Each package is designed and implemented by our allied health team using evidence-based practice. We have achieved amazing rehabilitation results for our residents since introducing this service in late 2020.
