What does good aged care look like?
Whilst we recognise the need for the Aged Care Royal Commission’s investigation of stories of neglect of elders, it was refreshing to hear a brief conversation on ABC Radio AM this morning about what is currently working well in the industry and what the next generation of seniors wish for in aged care in the future. The wish-list included:
– Small groups of residents living in communal homes, supported by consistent staff
– Personalised resident support plans and flexible routines
– Larger rooms or apartments with a double bet to enable couples to stay together
At The Richardson, we are already providing this service model for our residents. We have crafted small communities with no more than 12 residents sharing a kitchen, living and lounge room in a single home; supported by familiar staff who build genuine relationships with our residents.
Our residents are engaged and socialised with a better quality of life.
The future of aged care has already arrived at The Richardson.
