ORYX COMMUNITIES COMMENCES CONSTRUCTION OF THE QUEENSLEA IN CLAREMONT

Following the successful opening of The Richardson Aged Care in West Perth, Oryx Communities has commenced construction of an intergenerational seniors’ precinct, The Queenslea, in Claremont. Located on the corner of Shenton and Graylands Roads, and within LandCorp’s Claremont on the Park redevelopment, the precinct is close to the Claremont Quarter shopping centre, sporting facilities, Lake Claremont parkland, Claremont train station and the Claremont Aquatic Centre.

The project comprises a Residential Aged Care Facility, fully Serviced Apartments for seniors, and Intergenerational Childcare for more than 100 children. “The planned mix of generations will create a diverse environment and better lifestyle for all residents,” said Oryx Communities CEO, Michelle De Ronchi. “Older residents will benefit from socialising beyond their existing friendship circle and increase their self-esteem and emotional well-being by sharing their stories, experiences and care with younger people,” she said. “It has been demonstrated that children learn and benefit from mixing with older people, with a different perspective on life.”

Multiplex Regional Managing Director, Chris Palandri, said the construction company was delighted to partner with Oryx Communities to deliver The Queenslea. “We’ve been working closely with Oryx Communities to finalise a design that will offer an enriching, living environment for residents and create a real sense of community. With construction now commenced, we’re looking forward to seeing The Queenslea come to life.”

The Queenslea will also offer seniors respite and dementia care, and allied health-related services. The generously sized two – and three-bedroom Serviced Apartments have been awarded Platinum Design Certification by Liveable Housing Australia (LHA) and are the first of their kind in Western Australia. The Apartments have been designed to ensure normality, dignity and quality of life are prioritised, with residents needing never move again, even if their care needs change.

Ms De Ronchi said “Residents would be able to enjoy a homely environment in an enriching and supportive community where couples can stay together, and where families, friends and pets are welcome.”

“We are creating an experience that our clients have long been demanding. We recognise people seek accommodation that is centrally located, well-appointed and well-serviced. Our focus is on creating an enriching environment to live with exceptional support and care levels. This precinct is for people who want to feel part of a community and maintain connections with friends and family.”

Oryx Communities congratulates LandCorp on the leadership and vision it exhibited by dedicating Lot 506 Claremont on the Park for the development of seniors’ accommodation and services.
