Bridging Generations: The Queenslea Brings the Young and Old Together Through Our Intergenerational Program
A heartwarming program fostering friendship, learning, and joy between aged care residents and local children.
At The Queenslea, moments of connection are at the heart of everything we do. One of our most cherished initiatives is our Intergenerational Program—an ongoing series of visits and activities that bring together our residents and local children for shared experiences, learning, and laughter.
Each week, our facility comes to life with the laughter, curiosity, and warmth that only children can bring. From baking sessions and craft projects to music, storytelling, and outdoor play, the intergenerational activities are designed to foster interaction, creativity, and mutual learning.
These regular visits offer more than just fun—they provide emotional and cognitive benefits for both our residents and the children. Our residents enjoy the sense of energy and purpose the program brings, while children gain valuable social skills and a deeper appreciation for older generations.
Bianca Rogers, Lifestyle Coordinator at The Queenslea, shares:
“We are truly grateful for the opportunity to participate in these weekly intergenerational sessions. Watching the residents and children interact is such a wholesome experience. It’s clear how much joy and vitality these moments bring to our residents.”
The program is a cherished part of life at The Queenslea and continues to strengthen bonds between generations, creating a sense of community that goes beyond age.
Programs like this are part of what makes life at The Queenslea vibrant and meaningful. We’re proud to foster a space where every generation feels seen, valued, and connected.
